Global Private Equity and Secondary Market Update – First Half 2015

The presentation will discuss the global macroeconomic environment, review the private equity asset class and address the current state of the secondary market. Landmark continuously seeks to identify trends and issues in the alternatives market and constantly analyses how such developments may impact the asset class broadly and, more specifically, the global secondary market.  We will present our observations and recent experiences by discussing:

• Global observations and market developments in the private equity and real estate asset classes
• Energy market fundamentals and trends and the impact on energy-focused funds

Ian H. Charles, CFA

Mr. Charles is a partner at Landmark. He is responsible for sourcing private equity and real estate secondary transactions, developing new structural solutions for institutional investors, and negotiating private equity investments.  Mr. Charles also devotes time to helping build Landmark’s quantitative research capabilities. Mr. Charles serves on a number of private equity fund advisory boards.

Prior to joining Landmark, Mr. Charles was a co-founder of Cogent Partners, the first global secondary market intermediary.  During his time at Cogent, Mr. Charles was the firm’s leading transaction manager and originated many of the firm’s early, marquee transactions.  In addition, Mr. Charles created and led the firm’s research subsidiary. He was also part of the investment team at The Crossroads Group, where he was focused on primary, secondary, and equity co-investment opportunities.

Mr. Charles is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) who received an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BBA in Finance & Accounting from Texas Christian University.
