Lunchtime Event – Stephen Walters on global markets and Australian economy

  

The CFA Society of Melbourne invites you to lunchtime presentation:

 Overview of Global Markets and the Australian Economy

  • Global economic issues – including growth and policy outlook, Greece and the EU, UK elections (being held day after CFA event), China, etc

  •  Australia – progress on the rotation away from mining, the problems elsewhere in the economy, policy outlook, housing, AUD, the budget (released the following week

Stephen Walters 

 
Stephen Walters is Chief Economist for J.P. Morgan Australia. Stephen joined J.P.Morgan in October 2001 as Senior Economist, and was appointed Chief Economist in August 2004. He heads a team of three economists covering Australia and New Zealand.
Before joining J.P.Morgan, Stephen was Senior Economist with Access Economics in Melbourne and International Economist with Norwich Union and Alliance Capital in the United Kingdom. He also spent seven years as an Economist with the Treasury in Perth.
Stephen holds a Bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Western Australia and a Master’s degree in applied finance (Hons) from the University of Melbourne. He also has qualifications in journalism and has published two books.
Stephen is a member of the NSW State Council of the Committee for the Economic Development of Australia (CEDA), the Executive Committee of the Australian Business Economists (ABE), and the Economists’ Panel for the Australian Financial Markets Association (AFMA).
